[GenCon] Hotels in Indy

Remind a parent of a toddler again which hotels are connected the the convention center by overpasses/walkways/skyways?

We stayed at the Embassy Suites last year. Very nice, and there was a way to get to the center by going through the mall and over the street, but we ended up using the street anyway since it was faster. Oddly enough.

Cheers,
Cam

Can't say what the other hotels were like but I was at the Adam's Mark last year, stayed in a suite, cost was about $120 a person, very nice room, two queen sized beds, a sperate living area, two TV, couch (that folded out to bed), desk, plenty of fluffy towels, bar/dinner in lobby, about four blocks from the CON, lot of places around to visit.

ditto. only complaint....i drove. and parking for the Adam's Mark was next door for my pickup.

I stayed at the Canterbury, and it was NICE. A 4 star restaurant downstairs, afternoon tea each day (with an excellent piano player setting the mood), fairly large rooms, beds to die for, 2 blocks from the convention center (and a skyway to the mall and to the convention center through there), and staff that literally would help you with anything you needed. It's normally very expensive, but their rates during this are as affordable as anywhere else. There's a Steak 'N Shake across the street that's open 24/7, the mall right next door, restaurants all up and down the block, and the mall movie theater is two doors down. Oh, and the truffles on the pillow at night are to die for.

It's a very European sort of hotel, which is nice. Very laid back. They have a nice lounge area, but it would take more courage than I have to game there. Read, yes. Game, no. At the same time, they don't blink an eye at people in gamer T-shirts and stuff. I don't believe they have internet access in the rooms, but they do keep a computer downstairs for checking email and web brousing on. I really enjoyed my stay.

I think this could be said for every place I went to in Indy, the city was very friendly and enjoyable.

Here are a couple of links that might help:

There are three hotels that connect directly to the ICC via skywalks - the Marriott, the Westin, the Crowne Plaza. Several others are indirectly connected by way of one or more chains of skywalks. These include the Hyatt Regency, the Embassy Suites, the Canterbury Hotel, the Omni Severin. As someone noted, it can be faster to walk at street level than to follow the chain of skywalks from the Embassy Suites to the ICC, since you have to go through a couple other buildings.

We are going to stay 5-10 miles away, cause it is only 60 bucks a night.. And we can drive there.. Does anyone know how much parking is around the convention center? That be helpful to determining anything else..

The parking garage my hotel used was open to the public. It was right across the street from the Convention center, underneath the little fountain park. I think it was $25/day.
