Empowering an empowered spell, can you?

Yes, you can. Only the base spell is empowered each time though.
Yeah, but it takes up a spell sot four levels higher. You are better off Maximizing it, that only takes the space of a spell three levels higher!

Wow, did we just catch Crothian out on a rules question? What is the world coming to? :D

Multiple Metamagic Feats on a Spell: A spellcaster can apply multiple metamagic feats to a single spell. Changes to its level are cumulative. You can’t apply the same metamagic feat more than once to a single spell.

You used to be able to double-empower in 3.0, but can't do it in 3.5.

Although 3.5 says you can't, I still allow it...otherwise, what is the poor epic fellow to do with those 18th-level spell slots and his Improved Metamagic that only makes them harder to fill?

They keep changing the rules on me. It is a situation that just never comes up so I was unaware of the change. Seems like a silly change too, using the same meta magic feat on a spell was never a problem.

Yep, I guess it was done to stop a 9th level bull's strength from giving you +13 to strength all day, though that seems okay for a ninth level spell, imo. And then they fixed the buffs so you can't empower them anyway, so what was the point? I guess you could lhave a 70 or so point magic missile as a ninth level slot, but again, that's not too powerful for a ninth level spell, imo. Now, the 3.0 incantatrix broke empowering all to hell, but that's another story.
