Dragon Age 2

So, any PC gamers looking forward to this one? Because yeah, I. . . I'm not, and only more so, the more I hear about it.

Anyone else have a perspective on this game?

I am a fan of the first game - while it wasn't perfect, the different origins provided different perspectives on the same events, as well as the results based on choices. Those reasons that I like it were enough to get me interested enough in the setting.

True, this second game will take away what I mainly like about the first game, but it will be set in the same setting and I have a sneaking suspicion we'll see some effects or references to game one (like morigan's child, or something).

So for now, I am cautiously optimistic and willing to give it a chance.

I may change my mind as more info becomes available, but something tells me that I'll still find a way to try it myself regardless.

I don't see what the problem is. Just because there's a more defined persona doesn't mean you still won't get to decide the fate or the plot.

Honestly, all the customization is an illusion that you get in CRPGs, you are limited by the flags and trees--it's what Dougless Niles once named the "Matrix Adventure", not completely open but not linear either. I find I have just as much fun with games like Mass Effect and Alpha Protocol than I do with DA and other games.

Well, JohnRTroy, it's going to be markedly more "console-style", from what I hear. As a PC gamer, I'm not thrilled about that - surely, there's been quite enough of that going on already. Dragon Age: Origins was almost. . . almost a "proper PC game". Close enough that many were glad, or indeed, relieved.

Mind you, I'd be willing - and happy! - to be proved wrong on that count.

And fba827, you and I both wrt the setting. Otherwise, I probably wouldn't even be curious enough to care in the first place. Also, being made by the company it is, I'm still determined to have high(-ish) hopes for DA2. To be some kind of game that's, er, some kind of fun. :hmm:

I am looking forward to DA2, Bioware are yet to disappoint, and I can't see them starting now.

As for the fixed origin human only protagonist - The Witcher and Planescape Torment both gave little to no choice in initial character and were awesome rpgs.

Even if it's just another game with different characters, the same engine and set in a different part of Ferelden, I'm in. Origins was just that good.
