Dr. Who season 4 episode 8 "Silence in the Library"

In re: Professor Song, she definitely seemed (at least initially) on somewhat intimate terms with the Doctor. That, plus her genuine need for him to recognize her seems to indicate to me that she's something more than just a standard traveling companion.

But it seems to be further into the Doctors future, since she says he looks young...

She could be referring to his current incarnation being so young compared to his other regenerations (which- aside from Peter Davison- is the youngest of the actors playing the Doctor) as opposed to this particular regeneration being so young compared to when he knows her.

But in either case, I think you are correct that she comes from his future.

Re Alex Kingston (aka Professor River Song/Dr Who Love interest)> for the first half hour I was trying to place her...I knew I had seen her before. I had it pegged who she was, but my mind refused to believe it...it wasn't until my wife said what I thought that I realized my guess was correct....Moll Flanders ...I had seen her in Masterpiece Theater's Moll Flanders and she was awesome! I highly recommend watching it. It was the best adaptation of Defoe's book. I certainly hope she stays around.
I had to see her name at the end to remember where I knew her from, which was ER. I have a total fan crush on her, and hope she becomes a regular in some way.

Oh, and this episode kicked ass. Moffat rulz!

Is she really a travelling companion, though? By the look of things, she knows his future self, but if she'd been a travelling companion, then why wouldn't her current incarnation still be travelling with the Doctor rather than doing archeology? My guess is she was involved with him in some capacity, but stopped for some reason. Is Alex Kingston set to return in any other episodes?

All in all, great episode - can't wait for the conclusion on Saturday.
