It was pure RTD. That stuff he does really well. The epic plot logic not so much, but the emotional stuff he always nails. It’s a large part of what made Tennant’s run so great.Anyone who is surprised or disappointed at the "big reveal" in the last episode hasn't listened to most if not all of the doctors, since the series was revived, when they've spoken on how they feel about "ordinary people."
