Spoilers Daredevil: Born Again (Spoilers)

Wait...that was the season finale? Man...that sucks. How long until season 2?

Great to see Karen Page back! And Punisher, obviously (though his plan wasn't exactly the best). I hope season 2 brings back Jessica Jones. She'd fit in.

As much as I loved this episode (and can't wait for Season 2), as others have noted, the power of the story is undercut somewhat when you start asking what happened to all the other heroes who might have a stake in this new fresh hell.

Were they all on vacation? : )
This is literally the question you can ask after basically every single MCU movie or show...the MCU has just given up on any actual continuity until they want continuity to be a thing. Why aren't the defenders or Dr Strange or Spiderman going into action....yep they are all just on vacation at the same time, there is no better answer, and there never will be at this point. Its just something you accept about the MCU or it will drive you mad.

So now finishing the season, overall I enjoyed it but yeah the pacing felt a bit off. Started off like a shot, slowed to a crawl, and then this episode tried to rachet everything back up. 9 episodes just wasn't enough!

I know that villains have to be absolute idiots when it comes to killing the heroes, but the idea that Frank would be allowed to live after all the crazy naughty word he has pulled to mess with Fisk's plans. Fisk was instantly all about taking out DD, but Frank who wants to keep in a cage. Why take such an insane risk? And then of course the cop at the end was the king of all idiots, seriously, SERIOUSLY!!! Any prisoner offers you his hand (let alone a man who has now killed how many cops?) and you just take it, just like that? What is this like the guy's first day at the police academy or something....come on!!!!

That said, I did appreciate that DD didn't do the crazy I will assault the fortress with 100 guys. It was refreshing to teh see the hero go "oh yeah I'm not 100% invincible, might need a different plan"

Karen is back! Oh yeah!

I legit wonder if that was Frank just saying F it and going to commit suicide, because other than buckets of plot armor its the only reason why that plan would have had even the slightest chance of success.
For someone who routinely gives Batman a run for well prepared plans, it did seem very unusual. No armored van full of weapons. NOT EVEN BODY ARMOR!

On the other hand, here you have someone who had so much taken from him. He's killed so many, yet nothing changes. Innocent people are hurt all the time, and his pain simply doesn't subside. He tried to hide from it, only to find this new breed of criminals with badges claiming to be inspired by him- claiming to follow in his footsteps.

So maybe that was it. Maybe he wanted to show them their "hero" up close and personal. Even if he died, if he could keep these clowns from carrying out their crimes in his name, it would be worth it?

As for keeping him prisoner, well, killing Matt wasn't just about getting rid of a foe- Fisk really sought to use Matt's demise to benefit him. A hero, who succumbed to his wounds is now a martyr. And he died to save the Mayor! That sacrifice will not be forgotten!

But Frank? Frank is a trophy. For now. Just like all the others he's put in cages. I suppose Fisk planned on killing Frank after breaking him totally. Just to feed his ego. But more likely, he also plans on using the Punisher to advance his agenda. The task force was probably ordered to capture, not kill him.

A mistake, yes, and a costly one, but let's all be honest here- if Kingpin DID kill Punisher, the internet would have exploded as thousands of fans cried out in dismay. So all you can complain about is not liking the way the writers decided to not kill the guy most people didn't want killed in the first place, lol.

-Amusingly, if Frank Castle was killed permanently in the comics, I wouldn't care. I liked the idea of the character, but he really doesn't belong in a world of heroes and villains in spandex. But I really like Jon Bernthal's Punisher at the same time. Go figure.

Dr Strange is presumably in another dimension dealing with whatever it was that Charlize Theron wanted him to fix. Plus he probably doesn’t get involved in day-to-day political stuff. (And Wong’s probably too busy watching TV with Madisynn).

Spider-Man probably can’t join in due to contractual issues with Sony.

They did tease Miss Marvel, so maybe she’ll show up in season 2? Or Matt will team up with her in a different show?

What about Kate Bishop? What is she doing? She’s fairly street-level and has tangled with Fisk and his gangs before.

There are probably some other NYC-based (super)heroes I’m forgetting or don’t know about.

I always just assume that other heroes are tied up with their own crap. The Avengers are dealing with world ending stuff, at the very least. Spider-Man has his personal issues, etc.. When they have a team-up is when their worlds align.

If season two is titled Devil's Reign like it should be and they mirror the comics then we should see at least the other street level heroes. We already have Punisher and Swordsman in lockup, that should make it easy to bring in Kate. Echo, Luke and Jessica are around somewhere. So we will see.

Two thoughts:

1) This episode was cartoonishly gory. Like, I’ve just watched all of The Punisher S1, and while it was bloody, it did not have buckets of blood splashing everywhere like this episode did. Like, there were scenes in The Punisher where I had to look away because it was so visceral, but this was just schlocky and goofy-looking! It also didn’t feel in keeping with the earlier episodes. (And let’s not forget the ridiculous way Gallo died.)

2) Fisk’s Task Force seems to have grown exponentially. When Frank and Matt took out the guys who invaded Matt’s apartment, I was like, “Well, there goes the Task Force!” … but no, apparently most of the NYPD is on the Task Force now. That’s just nuts! (I suppose they might not all be police. Some might be mercenaries or criminals.)

Well, he did have his bullet proof vest on at least!

Just checking that you saw the credits scene?
