I don't get how you can be working on this 5.5 edition for 2 years and create a spell this OP. If you gave one person the job to handle spells, is it crazy to think you could tweak every spell in the game and have time to spare? You could consult on every spell with each head of creation of X (character classes etc) and roughly map out DPS with minimal effort. I dunno, I just don't get it.

So, I presume you are seeing the two new videos released today:
Treantmonk. He has a proposed fix, changing the upcasting.
D4.

Isn't the whole thing resolved if the bonus damage from the spell is only added once per turn? It is still an excellent spell, and the silliness goes away.

Yeah, it's mechanically pretty ridiculous. Also, I hate the flavour of these new Conjure spells. I guess they needed to apply those names to something in order to eliminate the old versions under the always-use-the-latest-version standard, but these are not creature conjuration spells.

Like, how am I supposed to visualise this? Are there a couple of mephits blowing fire breath onto my swords between attacks to make them toasty hot?

Yeah I watched them both. Objectively, it's absurd this spell went out like this. I'm picturing being a small group of developers talking about new spells and inside of 30 sec I think most D&D players with minimal experience would look at the spell and immediately say its OP. It's hilarious. I'd love to be a fly on the wall to hear how this spell was argued, as is, to be printed in the PHB.

hahahaha!

but remember kids, having Hunter's mark without Concentration, for Rangers only, will brake the game...

what a joke.
True. At least I can wrap my brain around some logic of what they were trying to do there. Not saying I agree with what they did, far from it, but I can understand it. What they did with so many other spells makes no sense. Conjure minor elementals is just one of many.
