CMON Games In Trouble

Looks like CMON, the folks behind a LOT of boardgames, as well as the Zombicide RPG, Assassin's Creed RPG, Marvel Multiverse RPG Starter Set, and who purchased the Broken Compass RPG from Two Little Mice, are in trouble.

According to THIS article on GamesRadar, and THIS article on wargamer.com, they've frozen stock trading, failed to publish their annual report, are reporting a predicted $2,000,000 loss, are having issues with certain shareholders, have had the sale of certain IPs fall through, are having staffing issues with their finance department (understaffed), and still have over a dozen crowdfunding and preorder campaigns unfulfilled.

I've ordered two Kickstarters from CMON and they delivered both times. I'm sorry to hear they're in trouble.

I almost went for the Assassin's Creed RPG pre-order, but couldn't afford it at the time.

I don't know where they manufacture their minis and components, but if it's China, the tariff trade war will also hit hard.

China is where basically all packaged board game type products are manufactured: they are the world leaders in the field, right he tools and the expertise.

Yeah, their stuff is produced in China. I’ve backed them, and have one KS currently backed; their miniatures are really top notch.

So this sucks. And yeah, the tariff situation on top might mean they are screwed. I’m thinking of all the good and talented people who must be living with so much stress right now.

It’s especially awful that these fiats are just being dropped like bombs, with no chance for businesses to wrap things up, try to shift production, anything. And unlike Apple, little companies like C’Mon can’t pressure their buddy to give them a special exemption. They just get run over.

I think this is very important …

The only real thing we as individuals can do to try and get this tariff debacle ended is to contact your senators and representatives.

Seriously - if enough folks let them know how much we do not want these crippling tariffs, and how catastrophic they will be to the economy, they may push back on the Administration enough to get them ended for good.

Remember, it’s easy to just vent and complain about it, it takes more effort to actually reach out and let your Congress people know what you think, but reaching out to your Congress people is the only way we can hope to fix this …

Yes. And just to emphasize: even for those (like me) who live in a place where their congresspeeps actually support the mess, it's still important to let them know that there are people in their districts who are unhappy. With enough pressure, they might change their minds.

Yeah I just requested a refund for Super Fantasy Brawl: Reborn, somewhat fittingly a property that CMON bought from Mythic Games, another company that bit off far more than it could chew and went under.

Makes me sad, but I supported them enough already with Zombicide.

More bad news, sadly: Final Frontiers Games Shuts Down

What does this have to do with CMON? Here's the relevant section of the article:
According to FInal Frontier Games, the order that fell through was with tabletop giant CMON. The update stated that CMON had initially agreed to pay 50% before production then the remainder after the process was complete. Allegedly, this deal was changed to paying the entirety once the games were ready to be picked up.

Final Frontier agreed to this change. But, according to them, the last possible day for payment came and went with no contact from CMON. Despite multiple emails being sent, no one at CMON got back to them regarding payment.

CMON has yet to make an official statement or comment at the time of writing.
