Ball of Yarn
Wondrous Item, uncommon
As an action, you can throw this ball of yarn up to 60 feet. Any feline creature of any type (tabaxi, weretiger, rakshasa, lion, deadly house cats, etc.) that can see the ball of yarn must make a DC 13 Wisdom saving throw or become charmed. While charmed by the ball of yarn, on its turn the affected creature must spend all of its movement to move adjacent to the ball of yarn and, as an action, bat it away up to 30 feet in a random direction. The creature can repeat the saving throw if it sees some furniture to claw, or a small bird to kill.

Fixed that for you.

Even without:

Stealth

Perception

Claws

Agility

Darkvision

I would still love to play a Tabaxi, Because.........CATS!

BTW my cats love Curry. Though not sure about the lemon.

Like pretty much all the Volo's Guide races, and for that matter most of the Player's Handbook races, I think Tabaxi are an unnecessary addition to the game. It would have been far more useful to me if they were given a monster entry instead of wasting a bunch of pages detailing them as PCs. Of course, all PCs in my campaigns are human anyway, so it doesn't affect me aside from the waste of page space that could have been useful.

But I firmly believe that anybody should be allowed to play any goofy thing they like if their DM OKs it, so I have no problem with the various races as PC options fundamentally.
