What's the bet someone will buy one of these and start selling terrain pieces online?

Let's hope they're cheap :D

The problem may of course be that the printer may not last long enough or be reliable enough to pay its own way in miniatures or terrain or whatever it is you are making with it. They are selling it as a kit rather than fully assembled and I think that says something.

When cars first came out they were sold as kits, some still are. And they required extensive tinkering. Its all a matter of how long a product has been on the market and if the demand for reliability is there. Outside of modern cars for example, most commonplace items that break are thrown away and replaced rather than repaired.

I like this one better myself, although you have to build it from parts, it only costs $520 and can build large items. It can also build its own replacement parts. ;)

Over in the Next Innovation in Gaming thread, I mentioned this 3D printer:

There is also the Desktop Factory 3D Printer that has been announced for some time.
I definitely see a day when you can upload a picture of your own face and have it used on your own mini.

Plastics with colours applied to the surface would be sweet. No more filling in with figures you don't have time to paint. Having the right figure for every monster in the dungeon. Recycling the figures you don't use to make more . . . Better start saving my pocket money.
