I don't have AC, but thankfully I have windows and an ocean breeze.

My store has a really good heat pump. It tends to be set at 22C (72F) but it blows colder. People walk into my store and say, "It sure is nice in here!"

On hot days, when I'm working, I don't realize how hot it is until I walk outside to head home. Today will be like that.

I should have had heat pump on the list with AC, Window AC, and Evaporative Cooler!

Is a heat pump basically a two-way AC?

AC is pretty rare here in NZ (where cold, damp houses are a big issue). Heat pumps are becoming more common, but we don’t have one.

In summer, we open doors and windows to get a cross-breeze but still need to turn on a fan sometimes.

In winter, we use the fireplace to warm the upstairs and huddle under lots of layers in our rooms downstairs. (It is currently winter.)

Now I kind of wish they had grid polls, where I could have folks pick the column for a typical high summer temperature where they live and a row with their AC/whatnot temp setting...

Yeah when I grew up AC was very much one of those American things - except for cars, cars have AC which are always cranked to either highest (29) or lowest (19) setting

My mother has heat pumps which tend to be set around 24C when its cold and turned off in summer

In Summer we open windows or doors

75 at night when people are sleeping, although I turn it off and open the windows when the temperature outside mercifically drops below that point.

During the day, 78.
