I just don't think that Rotk will win best picture. Best Director but not Best Picture.

The opening is pretty good. Well now I know what an elf with a low Cha looks like :)
It's an incredibly rare event for Best Director to not win Best Picture.

And I hated the opening... boooooring.

Not me, but I am still quite happy with the result. Excstatic, even. Bordering on delirious.

Check my math, but I believe I got 21 out of 24. Damn that horse, I thought they'd give it a consolation prize in Editing; otherwise I would have had 22!

The Barbarian Invasions director, Denis Arcand, lives and works (along with most of his crew) in my city, Montreal. Me and my SO were quite happy about his Oscar.

I must say, the Academy surprised me this year. People like to say that the Oscars are too "political" and arranged, but it seems that they mostly decided to reward good work and talent.

The LOTR clean sweep was nothing short of astounding. Peter Jackson took what was a sub-culture in Cinema (Fantasy and some SF) and planted the "Flag on the Moon" for the genre. It's just awesome to see the genre (rightly so) given the proper credit it deserves.

All hail Jackson and Tolkien !

You are correct, Sir!

Here's the run down (check my math, please)...

21 of 24 for Barendd Nobeard
20 of 24 for Mark
19 of 24 for Shadowdancer
19 of 24 for Sirius_Black
17 of 24 for TiQuinn
16 of 24 for NiTessine
16 of 24 for Dagger75
15 of 24 for Dimwhit
13 of 24 for reutbing0
13 of 24 for Mistwell
11 of 24 for LightPhoenix
10 of 24 for MEG Hal
10 of 24 for Wormwood

That was an interesting Oscar night. LotR kicked! And I agree with all but one of their wins.

And hey, I got middle of the road on the picks here, so no complaints from me. :)

I wonder why Barendd Nobeard hasn't even asked about his "prize" yet? :p

Probably cause he's typing out his 5 page acceptance speech for winning.

Who don't the actors thank? Did any thank the general public for watching their movies?
