Old School Essentials (OSE) and Labyrinth Lord are B/X retroclones with options to throw in AD&D classes and monsters and races and such with a metric ton of adventures by numerous publishers

So OSE, Lamentation of the Flame Princess, and Labyrinth Lord can pretty much be used interchangerbly?

Yes, LotF will have its own quirks such as magic and the earth setting and the harsh horror stuff but it is also basically a B/X core of rules, you should be able to use modules interchangeably among the three.

I have not checked how compatible the OSE and LL advanced class and monster conversions are but they have the same goal of converting AD&D specific stuff to B/X.

LOTFP has the quirk that only fighters improve in combat ability and uses D6 for thieves with their single skill, thievery. One of the best things about LOTFP is actually their supplemental material. Zak S. is a dirty word but he did a few products for them that have been pulled that are excellent for OSE, LL and not just LOTFP like Vornheim, A Red & Pleasant Land. Veins of the Earth is a great toolkit for "underdark" without being, ya know, underdark.

There is also a Carcosa supplement that is very cool but like LOTFP is not for everybody. It is more 0e.

It's not a single skill exactly. LotFP extracts the "skill-like" checks everyone can do and certain classes can do better (like search for secret doors, search for room traps, open doors, hear noises) and makes them x in 6 skills, as well as supplementing them with a couple more, including Thief skills. Specialists (the Thief replacement class) get extra pips to add to distribute among the various skills (and backstab) each level.
