I have so many hours of Trek series to catch up on, I would be setting myself up for conversations that I could not meaningfully participate in. The Strange New Worlds costumes are pretty great, though.

I just saw the film. I thought it was good. Definately better than the Star Wars Sequels in regards to "fan service"...aka...how they treat the former movies and what happened in them along with how they treat the old characters that drew people to the film series in the first place.
The movie itself was probably disliked by many because it lacks a lot of the action and excitement that former movies in the series had. It's a slower burn and a slower movie. Some portions of it were in there simply for laughs, and those portions sometimes were done at the expense of time that could have been used or utilized to further character development more...but then...this movie is supposed to be a comedy and what is a comedy without them at least trying to have humorous scenes.
I hope it did well enough for them to turn a profit...I think it may be close.
I think there are many that will not like it because of at least one character development that hints at LGBTQ inclusiveness as well as the slower moving action and plot of the film.
I liked it though.
