D&D General Legend of Vox Machina Trailer Released

Critical Role’s The Legend of Vox Machina will be released on Amazon streaming in batches of three episodes. Season 1 will release on Amazon Prime Video as follows:

• Friday, January 28th: Episodes 1-3
• Friday, February 4th: Episodes 4-6
• Friday, February 11th: Episodes 7-9
• Friday, February 18th: Episodes 10-12

I have read The Lord of the Rings a number of times, but I have failed to read it a number of times as well, and I almost always fail at the same point: The Old Forest. Man is that a LONG chapter...

When I started watching the trailer I thought it was going to be like Dragon Prince, and it was something my daughter could watch.

Then the dwarf got crushed by a rock, then decided that she couldn't, but I would definitely watch this. It looks like a lot of fun.

I think it's less self-indulgence and more that he didn't really have a clear idea of where the trilogy was going, exactly. The first book really comes together in Rivendell (maybe post-Bree).

Okay, the songs are a bit self-indulgent.

I've been rereading the books and Fellowship drags in the beginning but both Two Towers and Return of the King are chef's kiss.

Yeah, definitely tonally not for me - but the animation looks cool and ATAB-like with its clear anime influences.

Animation is done by titmouse, who did The Legend of Korra. Dunno if they were involved in ATAB though.

Fairly recently? The Simpsons started in 1987. That is 33 years ago, when D&D was still owned by TSR. South Park started in 1997. Just to name a few.

And that's nothing to say about the adult-oriented anime that was being piped into the West from Japan in the 80s.

Honestly, I love The Hobbit way more than Lord of the Rings. The pacing, the comedy, the world building, the few dwarves that get named once and never mentioned again.
