Sales at the end were hit and miss. The good books did okay. The crappy quality books(Incarnum I'm looking at you) did not. People had a lot of stuff by then and took time to see if a book was quality or not before purchasing, because they weren't starved for new stuff like a lot of us are with 5e.Umm, wasn't that the whole argument that Ben Riggs put forward? That the books sold in the first couple of months and then nose dived thereafter?
I didn't realize there was actually anyone who thought that 3.5 had stable sales by the tail end. I'm rather surprised that you think this.
