Recently, I came across a game where the character would develop low numbers for their attribute bonuses (like 1-5).
Task resolution was d20 + bonus vs. TN for anything that was active.
For a reactive (saving throw), you would add 10 to your bonus, and want to roll a d20 lower than that number.
Example: Dex is +3 (13). If I want to jump over a chasm I'd roll d20 + 3 vs. TN, but if I want to dodge falling rocks, I'd roll a d20 lower than 13.
I thought this was Knave, but when checking, it doesn't exactly work that way. So does anyone recognize what game this mechanic is from? I appreciate any help.
