D&D (2024) Deborah Ann Woll and Matt Mercer consulted on the 2024 DMG.

WotC consulted with celebrities including True Blood's Deborah Ann Woll and Critical Role's Matt Mercer when revising the upcoming 2024 edition of the Dungeon Master's Guide. Apparently another (unnamed) consultant provided advice on running game for kids.

The names will be under a tiny line on copyright page. People don't usually even read who the consultants are, so not sure name brand recognition so to speak, is going to drive sales of new DMG. Hopefully, good advice is given, which is really the main point of consultants.

I’ve had an hour of players in a hat shop trying on hats. And everyone was involved. Modern D&D players just love shopping.

Well no your conclusions are just wrong cause Outside help and consultants are used all the time. Like every single D&D book for 5e had freelancers.

The Core 5e books also used consultants.
