Because behind the 5th wall is his own psyche, and he doesn't want to get quite that self-referential.

It's goiong to be really interesting to see what effect this movie wants to have on the MCU,a nd what effect it actually winds up having. Does anyone have a reading on that, because I really don't - I'm staying away from spoilers for this movie, and the cause-and-effect in MCU projects of the past couple of years has been pretty anemic
