I prefer them a little beaten up and written in, honestly. I love when I buy a used game book and find other people's notes tucked between pages or their marginalia. Then again, my penchant to write in my books has been known to both horrify and delight other gamers!
So having got all essential 1e, 2e modules I delved into dungeon magazine, and have bought issue 1 (ouch), 19, 24, 35, 36, 37, 42 and the rare #70 (there is only one left for sale on the internet now!)I thought this list was going to include DUNGEON mag adventures, many of which are as good if not better than the classic modules I also love.
The startling absence I noticed is any of the UK series of modules, I highly recommend UK4 When a Star Falls. . . and UK7 Dark Clouds Gather.
Agree. I guess reflecting on the game’s history, which is what this thread does, draws us towards Greyhawk, which resonates with nostalgia in a positive way.Interesting that the strong majority are set in Greyhawk, but WotC by far favors Forgotten Realms. Novels > modules, it seems.
I'm the opposite, I chose the FR as my campaign setting so FR is all my memories. However within FR was temple of elemental evil, tomb of horrors, etc.Agree. Personally, I find little that carries memories about FR, possibly because it has been done to death or maybe because “Elminster or Drizzt sort it anyway.”
Let me know if I am missing any "must haves" from the 1e, 2e era of dungeon
