    D&D 5E Lets Rank the 5e Skills!

I would expect each rating to change significantly based on class and probably what sort of character your planning on playing. Medicine might be B+ for a cleric and performance might be an A+ for a bard. Since every PC is going to have a class won't ranking without the context of class be...

D&D 4E Is there a "Cliffs Notes" summary of the entire 4E experience?

I just finished reading all 83 pages of this GD thread (which in itself may be sign of sickness). It really makes my head spin to see how hard people will work to disprove each others experiences and opinions. I think both sides in the war should meet in the middle hug it out and just play 13th...

How do Skills work in 13th Age?

Perhaps I'm just overly trusting or generous but I have little concerns about backgrounds being too open ended, quite the opposite in fact. I would be much more worried about players picking backgrounds that are too hyper focused and limit the players participation in the social aspects of the...

How do Skills work in 13th Age?

I love the system, it finally breaks the age old D&D stereotype of fighter skill inferiority. As an added bonus it just another awesome way that it ties the PC to the campaign setting. This is another aspect of 13th Age I would probably insist in bringing over if our group ever switched back to D&D.

    Stat Balance

An interesting take on the game. No derailment intended but does anyone at your table take issue with the notion that a dexterity focused character should have a better initiative or a constitution one have better hit points or is this just a purely mathematical exercise?

13th Age: what would you like to see next?

Great question. Love your list btw. The cities detailed in 13TW has whetted my appetite for more information about the campaign setting. I don't mean just what we see on the map either. I'd love to see the areas off the map too maybe cover the rest of the continent? I wouldn't mind seeing some...

D&D 5E Blog Post by Robert J. Schwalb

So apparently its ok for some people in this thread to represent opinion as fact. I would say among its serious issues is poor handling of skills and out of combat play, never ending battles, gridlock, and dependence on the character builder to name a few. Cue the usual suspects and their...

D&D 5E Blog Post by Robert J. Schwalb

I couldn't agree more, very well said. As always there will be people out there searching and scanning for any tidbit that can be used to claim aggrieved status, same as it ever was around these parts. You really had me laughing out loud with the Voltron bit, it really hit the nail on the head...

    13 True Ways Preview

I preordered on Monday to get access to the PDF download which from my perspective was a blessing. My only real gripe with 13 Age was that it needed more class options and bingo here they are! I don't want to give away too much stuff so I will stick with general impressions. I love the...

So You're Just Not "Feeling It" for 5e - What ARE you excited about?

I am feeling fairly ambivalent about 5E. Having played every previous edition I’m happy to see the brand continue and will probably pick up the core books at some point. After our group got burnt out on 2-3 hour battles of 4E we switched to 13th Age which is a nice blend of 3 and 4E with much...

What's your favourite D&D setting of all time?

D&D 5E Second Wind: Yes or No?

If you're keeping healing surges then it seems natural to include second wind. Bloodied I find to be a helpful descriptor to whats happening on the battlefield, whem I'm playing a leader I look around for those red rings on my allies minis and for focused fire its nice to target enemies with...

    Co-DMing

I'm currently in the process of planning a collaboratevly built homebrewed campaign setting. One component in that process is the idea of not just encouraging player buy in to the setting but also letting the other DMs in the group take advatage of it by setting their games and or one shots in...

D&D 4E Healing and combat tension between 4e and Next

My apology for the lack of clarity I was speaking of D&D. It would be great if 5E found a way to to let me have my cake and eat it too but given the commandment of thou shalt make a game that feels like D&D I won't be holding my breath. Which is not to say that feel isn't important but an...

D&D 4E Healing and combat tension between 4e and Next

A difficult proposition for me. I love the drawn out detailed boss fight that 4E enables and in combat healing is an important component of it (not the only one). OtoH having played a couple different 4E defenders for me the frequency with which a defender gets clobbered and reduced to little or...

Dragon and Dungeon Magazines - Do You Miss Them?

I especially miss Dungeon, so much good stuff that I still enjoy looking back at them. A sadistic red dragon named Flame anyone? ;)
