This matches my assessment. And I think it’s a good strategy—making your existing base happier and tweaking things to lure in those on the fence seems better than throwing out everything and hoping to make everyone happy.

I think MCG knows that if they can get people to back, that all in pledge will get more and more tempting. Getting someone to increase their pledge is, perhaps, easier than getting someone to pledge at all.

In my games I usually make the difficulty known ahead of time. The only times I don’t are when the PCs are experiencing high levels of confusion or obfuscation and I want to communicate those feelings to the players.
