At this point I think I am beyond caring about WotC's "wider space".
Alot of groups also don't allow or are aware 3rd party.

Why do you think I've stuck around this long?I mean thats fine too, but then you are accepting that the game you think about and discuss, is increasingly irrelevant to the wider community.
The notion of that shared discussion point, is a feature for some of us, and if you give up on that, thats fine but 99% of the world of RPG's is in that 5e space.
Then they should be informed by those that do, full stop. I do it every chance I get.Alot of groups also don't allow or are aware 3rd party.

Look, I'm just sick and tired of having to assume people are talking about WotC's current game when they want to discuss D&D. I'm not doing it anymore. You want to have other people's comments in your threads restricted to WotC only? Have the wherewithal to say so, because otherwise 5e is all 5e to me.
Knockoff is a clearly pejorative term. It strongly implies the superiority of the original, and I just don't agree that WotC D&D is superior by any metrics save popularity and profit (which obviously go hand-in-hand).People ate different. They're allowed to disallow whatever they like for whatever reason.
Knockoffs are exactly that. I liked Pathfinder but it's a knock off.
Granted, but I will die on this hill. That's the way overwhelming majorities work.

This is why I'm happy I convinced my group of Level Up's greatness. Now we're in a game GMd by a friend and they're using Level Up as our standard game.Fair enough. I was talking to my FLGS owner a few days ago, and was expressing a hopefulness for something non5e, nonD&D, and he just laughed at me.
At least around here your running it or it's WotC 5e.
