Look at the articles on D&D Beyond now. Most of them could be applied to other editions or game systems. The "must return clean copy" is the hard bit, not the "must know 5e".Depebdscon what they ask for.
I suspect a lot of it would be on new things in 5.5. Kinda like old Dragon articles leading up to 3.0. Coukd be completely wrong.
Could be fun eg writing about archetypes. They might ask you to do something very meh though.
