I don't really care.

How do you pronounce Daemon, anyway?

Day-min?
I always pronounced it Day-mon, but I think traditional its pronounced exactly like Demon. I could be wrong though :p

My answer isn't up there - I use both. (So I voted "don't care".)

For my campaign, "yugoloth" is the name that the yugoloths call themselves (and what other planar beings call them). "Daemon" is what primes call yugoloths.

I pronounce daemon as DAY-mon (as in Damon Wayans)...

Yugoloths are a family of daemons (daemons being a classification by mortal scholars), which includes non-yugoloth creatures like Guardian Daemons), just like not all devils are Baatezu and not all demons are Tanar'ri (or Qlippoth :) ).

Daemon is exactly the same word as demon in the same sense that color and colour are the same word. Therefore, using it as a seperate term from demon is a bit problematic. However, I don't really like yugoloth either...

Assuming that you refer to the specific group of fiends that were called yugoloth in 2E, I voted yugoloth.

However, I like to use daemon as a generic name for neutral evil outsiders and yugoloth as the specific name for, uhm, yugoloths.

Etymologically speaking, 'ae' is normally pronounced 'ee' - thus making dae and de rhyme. I wish to avoid confusion and thus (were there yugoloths in my campaign) would call them yugoloths just because there's no better word IMHO.

"Aha! The daemons are about to ambush the evil demons, and outnumber them three to one! Do you assist them?"
"Sure, I walk up to the marilith and offer her my sword."
... see the confusion? You could say it 'day-mon' if you wanted, but that's just... wrong.

Plus, when written I sometimes use 'daemon' as a magical servitor with no planar ties. I don't know why.

I pronounce it DAY-mons, and that's what they're called IMC. I also have a few more beyond what're in the books, maybe one day I'll type them up and put em up on the CC boards when I get a chance.
