D&D 5E Xvart: Humanoid or Monstrosity?

Is a xvart a humanoid or a monstrosity? The two Mordenkainen books disagree.

I'm becoming more and more of a mind that the Monstrosity type does not have enough of a consistent criteria to exist at all, so Humanoid.

Of course not. But the OP mentioned the two Mordenkainen books, so I thought it was worth pointing out that the newer one is meant to replace the older one. Therefore, officially, xvarts are monstrosities.

Use the minotaur rule.

If it's capable to be civilized, it's a humanoid.
If it's incapable of being civilized, it's a monstrosity.

I wrote an adventure before the publication of the Monsters of the Multiverse and now I'm updating it. There is a curse in the adventure that only affects humanoids. I need xvarts to be humanoids and boggles to be fey. I also need nilbogs to be humanoid. I guess I'll just be sticking with the Monster Manual, Volo's, and the Tome of Foes.

Are there any character races that are not humanoid?

I think 3rd edition had monstrous humanoid as a creature type.
