Women fighters in reasonable armor

Good pics on there. One I don't see on that site, but one that's always stuck in my head for some reason is the Horizon Walker picture in the 3.5e Player's Guide (iirc). The color scheme is a little too pink and purple, imho, but I like the nobility in her face, and that she looks a little older than most character depictions:

Kzach - in a ring, neither would I, on a battlefield - I will peg her at 300 yards before she has a chance to remember what her name was. Even after thousands of years, armor is still relevant.

Maille bikinis have a couple of major problems:
1) they fail as armor - they cover almost ZERO vital areas. The boobage is kind of in the vicinity of the heart, but other than that.. nothing,
2) assuming anything close to Medieval decency standards, it just ain't happenin'
3) that has to chafe.

The only historical female armor I can recall is Joan d'Arc's plate and maille. It was unflattering, but overall, was a little more "flexible" than most of her male counterparts (ie more maille, less plate). And Queen Elizabeth's full plate she wore to rally the troops against the invasion of England by France. I think I recall Cleopatra having some sort of cuirass but I believe that was more ceremonial than functional. The female warriors of Greek mythos all wore roughly the same gear as their masculine counterparts, though with "ample" room in the chest for extra "gear".

Even throwing the fantasy element into things, I cannot fathom any culture wanting their female warriors walking into battle all but naked and exposed to harm (except the Celts, and they were ALL naked, so that doesn't really count.)
