Which fantasy TRPGs do you think truly reflect the characteristics of firearms as Game Changers?

I haven't been following D&D and most TRPGs for many years, I am currently focusing on WH40K. I don't know if there have been any new TRPGs in recent years that emphasize the worldview of 'modern guns and magic'.

yes, there were many TRPGs such as Modern d20(oh……) and Pathfinder RPG (I perfer this one, especially that Ultimate Combat) that had rules about firearms and gunfighting, but they were generally too weak to demonstrate the overwhelming advantage of firearms, especially those modern firearms.

Modern firearms (rather than muskets) are the true Game Changers, changing the worldview and combat style of the entire game. They have a range of thousands of feet, can easily penetrate most armor and shields, can cause terrible damage, and effectively narrow the gap between low-level characters and high-level characters/powerful fantasy creatures——————a large group of Level 1 warriors equipped with automatic rifles and RPGs can still kill a great wyrm.

In the TRPG which truly reflects the advantages of modern firearms, there is no balance between cold weapons and firearms——————there are no needs to balance them, swords are simply outdated, and the spellcasters must also adapt to the changes of generations and they surely can.
This is an era of guns and magic, where everyone has started using firearms to fight. you may see a Balor wielding a gatling cannon and a Pit Fiend wielding a flamethrower, and dragons install hard points on their wings to equip RPGs and even missiles.

Does such game exist now?

I can only offer personal opinion in this.

I think Cyberpunk 2020 did a good job of showing the lethality of combat, but also the lethality of firearm combat.

Star Frontiers (alpha dawn) also had a good way of showing escalating damage from lasers and such with energy usage. Some of the weapons felt underpowered, but others had a good feel of showing why advanced society would choose it over other weapons.

I agree with Cyberpunk 2020. Played it fir years, and it always felt very deadly.

Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 4e gives firearms their game changing status.

They can penetrate armour - an important component of combat in this game.

They also do more damage because of the damaging quality and the bullet lodged in the target and requires a surgeon to remove.

Finally anyone shot by a gunpowder weapon that survives has to take a cool test or be broken.

They are substantial!

It isn't a new game, but GURPS does what you want. Getting shot once with a pistol is fairly survivable, but a rifle hit is a very serious matter, and a machine-gun burst just means you're dead. I've been playing and running an occult WWII campaign for many years, and characters in that don't try to use magic to compete with guns, since it's clearly foolish. The only use of melee weapons is stabbing people you have sneaked up on, since it is so much quieter than gunplay.

Sure, in a world without magic, they are game changers. Whether they should be in a magical world is an open question. But in any event, talk of modern firearms won't apply to fantasy not set in the modern era.

Sure. Shadowrun.

(Sorry, Cyberpunk 2020 - you aren't a fantasy game :p )

I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. Plenty of fantasy makes use of modern equipment. Why shouldn't it's impact on fantasy stories be discussed?

I am saying that if your fantasy is set in a pseudo-1400 ACE, you aren't going to find AK-47s. If the fantasy setting doesn't otherwise support the tech of modern firearms, the issue is moot.

Gatling guns and double-action triggers (which is where we might call the start of "modern firearms") are tech of the late 1800s and later - Victorian Era and afterwards in Europe and the Americas. Fine for gaslight and weird west fantasy, but not pseudo-medieval fantasy.

Dude. Not only did I not say that it, "shouldn't be discussed", I don't find that to be even a reasonable-but-mistaken interpretation of what I said. Do not attribute to me things from your own head, please and thanks.
