I know the story would take some updating, but I just watched House of the Dragon S2 E4 and holy crap do I want a War of the Lance prestige streaming show now.

I may need to read Chronicles/Legends over again. Its been a long time I but I'm sure a really great show could come from that. Really great.

I personally don't think the actual prose of Chronicles holds up, but I think the characters and plot could make for a great show under the right showrunner.

Yeah, probably not. I dont remember much of it at all, but the story structure, the characters, the path's they take? I am not an overly critical type, but it certainly checks the boxes.

I'd be there for it for sure if it held true to those 2 trilogies.

I can understand WotC being standoffish on licensing deals after the horror show that was the Dragonlance animated movie (seriously, it was awful).

It was indeed awful. Buy it was also before proof that TV could do fantasy.

I think this deal probably rides more on if the licensor believes that TV can specifically do Dragonlance as there are plenty of failed fantasy TV shows, even in recent years (e.g. Willow, Legend of the Seeker, The Shannara Chronicles, etc). Now, I personally liked a lot of those failed shows (I was particularly fond of Willow), but I'm not going to pretend that the viewership numbers were good enough to support further seasons (because they weren't).

It was cancelled, there was a thread and article here about it.
