What is a fixed range spell?

Persistent Spell can effect spells with personal or fixed range. What constitutes fixed ranged?

A spell with a range that does not change (Detect Magic - 60 ft), as opposed to a spell with a variable range (Magic Missile - Medium [100 ft + 10 ft/lvl]).

Admittedly I was first thinking about color spray, but that indeed is a instantaneous spell.

Ah, okay, so this means fear doesn't have to come directly from the caster? I missed that one if so.

It's origin point is a grid intersection. If you could persist it, the cone wouldn't follow you around.

[EDIT]Moreover, as it's a burst, the Fear effect might be persisted, but the cone that caused the effect would not be.

I was going for persistent range touch buff's actually, such as displacement or invisibility. I agree with shocking grasp and its ilk being unsupported.

I think what you're asking is: "Can I Persist in such a way that I can effectively cast Invisibility as many times as I can touch people during 24 hours?"

Is that it? I'm unclear on your purpose.
