D&D (2024) What 2024 Subclasses and Classes are you most excited about?

Hands down, the Monk. It took a class that was fun, but difficult to use effectively, and took it to 11.

Weirdly, though, the Way of Mercy (which was a great subclass in 14) isn't a major beneficiary other than getting standard Monk improvements. Open Hand and Shadow are probably the ones I would look at.

(They really need to make a Kensai that plays well with the new monk rules; as it is, it's nearly impossible to make a monk that isn't pure unarmed combat)

Otherwise, I think that the changes to the Warlock are really interesting. By moving Pacts to invocations, and increasing and powering up the invocations, they have made the Warlock much more flexible. The actual "subclasses" don't really stand out to me yet, so much as the main chassis.

At some point, I might want to give the new illusionist a spin. But that would require me to go full caster.

Never go full caster.....

For me, it would have to be the Fighter (Eldritch Knight), Monk (Warrior of the Elements) and the Ranger (Gloom Stalker). The last one especially as I am currently playing a 5e Gloom Stalker Ranger.

Not sure exactly how to answer as some of my favorite things only got minor changes (i.e. Fey Wanderer)

That said:

Class - Warlock probably most days, maybe Rogue or Paladin on some days.

Subclass:
Favorite Subclass in terms of Thematics - I really like the idea of a Dance Bard, but it is pathetic mechanically compared to other Bards. So much so I think it is the Purple Dragon Knight of the new Bard class.

Favorite Subclass that brought new mechanics - Great Old One. Honorable mention - Valor Bard

Favorite Subclass overall - Fey Wanderer, although this is not changed very much

I'm excited by the buffed illusionist builds possible:

straight illusionist, Arcane trickster, and (esp.) trickery cleric all are on my horizon.

Moon Druid is my first 2024 character. So probably most excited there.

I’m least excited about 2024 clerics.

World Tree Barbarian looks really fun.

I’m excited about the monk class changes but not really any of the subclasses.

I’m excited about Paladins and their subclass changes.

Melee warlocks too.

Sorcerer is up there on my excitement level.

Bards too, but mostly for higher level stuff.

Champion Fighter. Remarkable Athlete with expanded Improved Critical range? Yes please. Heroic Warrior at level 10 looks insanely rewarding. Such good sustainability.

A High Wisdom Ranger that is a bounty hunter (Hunter, but also any subclass). You can't shake him. Hunter's Mark does its job and is a non-issue for me. Rangers have so much adaptability and work in any environment/scenario. Lots of Expertise, Roving and Tireless means you can't be stopped. I appreciate that Hunter's Prey has been refined and is adaptable to the next fight you're planning.

Edit: I traditionally really like Paladins and Single-class spellcasters. So the fact that the Champion Fighter is top of my list is surprising. But after scouring through the 2024 PHB, there isn't a 2024 class I don't want to play, and even then I am inspired by the possibilities of most subclass options. I don't have the time to play them all (sigh). I am very happy with the book.

GOO with mind sliver, pact of the chain, gaze of two minds, mask of many faces, and visions of a distant realm, and the Actor feat.
Quietly attack people around corners, or from the middle of a crowd disguised as someone else.
Eldritch Blast+Agonizing Blast as backup of course.
