Web+Black Tentacle

If a character is under the effect of Web or Evard's Black Tentacle, should you make escape check every round until success, or should you make escape check every round until your character leaves the effective area?

If a character is under the effect of both Web and Evard's Black Tentacle, should you make a single escape check against both spell, or should you make two escape check separately?

Thanks in advance.

I don't think it's absolutely clear, but here's my take on it:

1. Check every round until the character is out of the effective area.

2. Separately.

Wow... that's nasty.

They are considered grappled by the tentacles. Escaping from the grapple is an attack action, as per grapple rules. Once they escape the tentacles' grasp, they have to wait until their next turn, as breaking out and moving through the Web require full round actions.

Now try acid fog and black tentacles.

Speed is reduced (by the acid fog) to 5 ft.

Speed is halved by the black tentacles (which means any creature may move at a maximum of 5 ft per round)

The acid fog reduces the grapple checks of creatures by 2.

So - each round take 2d6 damage and make a grapple check at -2. If you fail, become grappled. If you succeed, you get to move 5 feet towards the edge of the fog as your whole go. If you get grappled, you can't move at all. Ungrappling takes you your whole go, and then you're back to taking damage and making grapple checks to move.

Owwie.

These are the type of combos which made 3e haste such a killer. A spellcaster being able to get off two spells in a round just opens up so many possibilities for making the party cry.

Well, there's always the good old reliable henchman ;)

As a DM of a party with multiple spellcasters, this pain feels pretty familiar to me.

I know the rules allow it....

....but how would a Black tentacles + Web look?

The Web doesn't impede the tentacles?????
