Weapon of Spell Storing - What spells?

Pasus Nauran

First Post
I've got a (Lawful Good) 8th level Shadowbane Stalker (Cleric/Rogue combination PrC from CV). He's a Rogue 3/Cleric 2/Shadowbane Stalker 3 (divine caster level 5 if I'm calculating correctly). He's a two-weapon specialist using a pair of light maces, one of which has the Spell Storing quality.

Now my question is this: What are some good spells to put in the spell storing light mace? In our campaign, the books we use (that contain spells) are PHB, MiniHB, Complete series, Libris Mortis and BoED.

Typical spells I've been using are as follows:

- Bestow Curse
- Blindness/Deafness
- Cure X Wounds (vs. undead)
- Inflict X Wounds

Are there any other good spells that people can recommend to put in my mace?

Somebody else can cast the spell into the weapon. Vampiric Touch and empowered Shocking Grasp are both pretty fun. Touch of Idiocy, Poison from a druid, etc.

Poison is a 4th level Cleric spell, and a weapon of spell storing can only store spells of 3rd level or lower. We do have a Druid in the party, so I can have her cast it into the weapon for me though.

Our party currently lacks much in the way of arcane spell power. I used to have a Mystic Theurge, who was awesome, but then he fell off a cliff... Currently our party only has a Sorcerer with mostly area-effect spells.

Hold Person. ;) Especially when going up against that fighter with a low will save. ;) If you can get the sorceror to cast it, even better(3rd level instead of 2nd so DC is higher)
Doom. :)
Dispel Magic(against those buffed up enemies)

If you werent good id say Contagion, but thats a Necromancy(Evil) spell.

Lastai's Caress (BoED) is by far the best. It's a no-save second level spell that has a 75% chance to take any evil opponent out of the fight each round.

It's really stupid broken, but it's what our ronin uses in his spell storing sword.

Magic Missile has always been one of my favorites, especially if it's empowered.

Only if it's empowered. If it isn't, it's awful - CL1, for 1 missile averaging 3.5 damage.

Empowered, it's CL5 - 3 missiles, averaging 5 damage each, for an average of 15.

Empowering a stored Magic Missile doesn't multiply your average damage by 1.5; it multiplies it by slightly over 4.

Slow can be good, if the sorceror has it.

Blindness and Hold Person would have the obvious benefit of letting you get sneak attacks on the opponent afterwards. It's mostly a question of whether the opponent is weaker in Fortitude or Will.

Actually, my DM allows the stored spell to retains it's original caster level. I realize it goes against the RAW, but I'm not going to argue. :P
