Weapon in Samurai Champloo?

In episodes 20-21, there is this woman who tries to kill Jin and then Mugen. She wields a staff-like weapon. I was wondering if anyone knew the name of that weapon. Thx!

Haven't seen the show you mention, but if it's a staff with a slightly curved blade on one end, that's a naginata.

Very commonly featured being used by women in Japanese history.

The weapon is spear-like, except that the blade is longer [it's straight] and two other blades stick out at about the same place at not quite 90 degree angles. It's not a naginata, I know that [I do know a little about Japanese weaponry], though I thank you for the attempt [Trying to be sincere though nothing I say in my head sounds like it].

It sounds suspiciously like a weapon designed by somebody not particularly familiar with weapon design...

In which case it may not have a name at all...
