Weapon Focus and bows/composite bows

Sure. It lets 1st level characters have a break. They usually can't afford the composite bow that they *will* upgrade to later. There's no reason for even a 3rd level character to keep using the non-composite versions, so I think it's only fair to let them use Weapon Focus on both types. It lets them choose Weapon Focus as a 1st level feat and helps keep them alive longer. It's a no brainer for me.

Not in an open-ended fashion. I would allow the variant in Sword & Fist p. 69 -- allow switching Weapon Focus from normal to composite on the occasion of a level-up.

How many of you GMs out there allow Weapon Focus:Longbow/Shortbow to apply to the composite versions and why or why not?
Page 119 of the PHB, second column, first paragraph:

"For purposes of weapon proficiency and similar feats, a composite longbow is treated as if it were a longbow. Thus if you have Weapon Focus (longbow), that feat applies to both longbows and composite longbows."

ah, thanks!

Apparently my mind was still back in 3.0 on this one. Oops. Thanks for the reference!
