A particular line in the description of the War Mage struck me as interesting, "...War Magic blends principles of evocation and abjuration, rather than specializing..."
The wizard already has more archetypes than any other class, and I don't think future official content should spend too much page space giving them more. However, this approach to conceiving new archetypes really opens the door for many possibilities. Take any two schools and create a hybrid.
I'm curious to hear if anyone has already used this as the basis for homebrew wizard schools, and also to hear some pitches about how specific combinations might play out. I'm not soliciting class feature mechanics or anything, though posters are welcome to submit them as they please.
