Wand Bracelet v. Quiver of Ehlona

A Wand Bracelet can store or retrieve up to four small objects, such as wands, as a move action and costs 12,000 gp. It takes up the arm (bracers) slot.

Assuming your using it for the listed wands, why bother?

A quiver of Ehlona costs only 1,800 gp, doesn't use a slot and can hold up to 60 objects the same general size and shape as an arrow, which I believe would include up to 60 wands. You can retrieve them as a free action. If your wands are unusually large, they're certainly still going to be smaller than javelins, of which the quiver can hold 18. Finally, anyone interested in wands would have to consider it a bonus to also be able to hold 6 staves as well.

Is there some value to the bracelet as a means of holding wands that I am missing?

Are there rules for how long it would take to stash a wand back into the quiver? If not, I'd make it a standard action. But yeah, the bracelet seems overpriced.

It's a move action to pull a item from the quiver, unless said item is an arrow or other ammunition for your ranger weapon, then it's free.

The wand bracelet is a free action to retrieve an item, and a single move to exchange the item in your hand for another in the bracelet (always netting you one free move action)

Bracelet = better for offering a mechanical advantage that the quiver does not. THAT much better... is debatable.

If it was a move action to take something out of the quiver, it would seriously screw up your archery -- especially if you have multiple attacks.

Except for when you want to store different wands. The Wand Bracelet lets you chose which one you retrieve, the Quiver does not.

In the past, if a player had cold iron arrows, silver arrows, and +1 undead bane arrows in the quiver I've allowed them to pull out whichever ones they want without chance of error. Should I take it you do not? What about a player with 3 bows in the quiver. Does he get a random bow? Could he pull out a quarterstaff or spear when looking for a bow?

Once the owner has filled it, the quiver can produce any item she wishes, as if from a regular quiver or scabbard.
"Any item she wishes" means that you get the one you want, not a random item. It doesn't say explicitly what type of action it is, but "as if from a regular quiver or scabbard" might mean that it's a free action for arrows, a move action for a weapon or other item, and a free action to draw a weapon if you have the Quick Draw feat.

I'd agree with that. So the Bracelet is faster, but the price multiplier is large and the carrying capacity is tiny. *And* it uses a body slot.

I'd say the Bracelet is one of the few items in Magic Item Compendium that I've noticed so far that needs significant re-balancing. They did a pretty good job overall, I think.

Well, that and Buoyant armor. 4,000 gp for something you can also get from a 250 gp armor crystal.
