If you have never heard of this rpg, Würm is a rules-lite game set in the last ice age, where you can play early modern humans or neanderthals 40 000 years ago in Europe. The game is based on solid documentation so that you can have an accurate paleolithic feel when you play it, yet it is also open to fantasy elements, including spirits, shamans, monsters etc. in order to dive right into the mythology of these ancient times. It has a big success here in France, and has won multiple prices and awards.

Note that these two new pdf are called "1.2", for their content is almost the same as the previously relased ones, yet not exactly. A few typos have been corrected here and there, minor changes added to some texts, along with an updated layout with a few new artworks. Watch out: these books are NOT a translation of the second edition of the game published in France a few years ago (unfortunately, this 2nd ed will probably never be translated, which is a shame but c'est la vie!)

I would so play this with Poetry for Neanderthals rules.
Gee, that would certainly be fun! :giggle: Didn't know about this game. Aaah, I guess it wouldn't work that well in french with the one syllable thing, though.

Actually it's funny because the language question seems to be a matter when players are offered to participate in a "prehistoric" rpg. Mostly because prehistory is such a long period of time, people wrongly assume that they will have to play grunting ape-men or women when playing a game such as Würm. Which, obviously, is not at all the case. Here, we have people who speak (and dress!) in a completely decent manner

Any plans to release Tales of the Ancestors as Print on Demand?

Edit: And just because I'm nosy, why won't we see the 2nd edition? That seems a shame.

Hi Enaknomolos
Yes, I'm considering offering both the Rulebook and "Tales of" as PoD.
I need to check out how it works and to figure out if it will be affordable or way too expensive for the would-be buyers. Because I would like the books to be printed with colour and hardback so, you know...

as for the translation of 2nd ed, we talked about it a few years ago with my french publisher Black Book Edition, and they consdidered it for a while but it seems the gave up on the idea. Maybe the line is too large now, with seven book already published and two more coming (one is a box, in fact). I don't know really. Anymay. The rights are ripe and available if anyone would consider funding a translation! ;-)

Good to hear a maybe on the PoD version!

I didn't know second edition had so many books. Maybe if Ludospherik have some success with the Barbarians of Lemuria translations, they can start translating other French gems into English? :D

Not on the menu for now but who knows ?
For the moment we have so much to do with the Barbarians of Lemuria french line and upcoming english translations that we're not even considering working on an other game (we're just a couple of dudes, in Ludospherik, really ;))

I just got the Barbarians of Lemuria kickstarter PDF. It's gorgeous! Hopefully you'll have a lot of success with these translations. I think the game is underappreciated in the English-speaking world

Thanks a lot! We're doing our best to allow the game to reach broader audience, hopefully we'll manage. We'll release the full line ;)
