Voluntary lowering spell resistance

The rule about lowering spell resistance is the same as in 3.5, i.e. you need to spend a standard action.

I personally never liked this rule and have always let SR be instantaneously lowered on a spell per spell basis. Otherwise a power like the monk's diamond soul can be a real liability if, for example, the monk has to waste a round every time he needs healing from the cleric.

Thoughts?

double edged sword imo. Though perhaps they could spend a standard to disable until they spend another standard to bring it back up?

I wouldn't mind the monk having a "unique" SR that allows in helpful spells the monk wants to receive without needing lowering, since I'm so used to the monk being woefully underpowered and am thus more generous towards them (PF should have fixed that, though, right?).

But otherwise, I agree. It's meant to be a double-edged sword. SR is a very powerful ability to foil magic, and you can already auto-overcome your own SR for your spellcasting. I like that it has a drawback.
