Voice chat for online roleplay?

First Post
I'm looking for a program that will allow me to use voice chat for online roleplaying. I've played around with several programs (roger wilcon, GCN, yahoo, Talk world, Paltalk, Skype) but none of them seem to have what im looking for. I want a program that I can run in the background, has voice chat (to a group) functionality, as well as private voice chat. I'd like it to be able to switch between the voice chat in the room and the private voice chat easily. An Ideal program would allow me to run it in the background and press different keys on the keyboard to talk to the group or individuals. I have no idea if something like this exists but I figure asking can't hurt.

If you have any suggestions for programs that help with online play, specifically voice chat, feel free to chime in.

Ventrilo

I've played very briefly with Ventrilo. It does what you want, kind of. With it you setup "rooms". So you'd have one room where the group is. If you wanted to chat privately with someone, both of you would doube-click on a different room. The program shows you who is in each room. So once both of you were in the room, you could have the private conversation, and then move back to the "public" room when done. You can setup multiple rooms so you could have multiple private conversations as you moved from room to room talking to different players.

TeamSpeak.
My guild uses TeamSpeak when we play any online game. It is easy to use and easy on the processor. It is invaluable for situations in which typing is impractical. It does everything you mentioned in your post.
TeamSpeak is much the same as Ventrilo. I'm not sure how much they both cost or anything like that, so you may want to investigate those differences for yourself.
