Variant Death Deity Favored Weapon

Okay, title says it all. I hate the stupid cliche of the God of Death wielding a scythe and want something new and interesting for my own homebrewn God [He hates undead, if it matters; don't have too much other details]. The scythe is out! However, I have no idea what to replace it with...

Which is why I'm asking for helpful ideas. :)

IMC, the Goddess of Death (LN; also goddess of water, ice, silver, owls, magic, the moon, and knowlege) has the Spear as her favored weapon. It's not particularly death-oriented.

More death-oriented ideas:
- Hammer (the Final Gavel)
- Axe (the Executioner's Arm)
- Pair of Daggers (the Life-Shears)

One of the death goddesses in my campaign has the bow as her favored weapon. She is associated with carrion birds (like crows, ravens, and vultures), so traditionally her followers use black fletching on their arrows. I also think that the scythe is tired and over done. What aspects of death is the god your making most closely associated with? Using traditional executioner weapons might be appropriate (e.g. great sword or great ax). Kali, a Hindu goddess of death (amongst other things) had followers that used garrotes to strangle their victims so as to not spill any of their unclean blood. Any weapon is appropriate if you can thing of a good way to connect it to the god you are making.

Great Sword in my homebrew. The God of Death also has a back up ranged weapon. A perfectly forged circular blade...can't remember what I called it at the moment...i know my notes are around here somewhere....but anyway the circular blade is a representation of the "wheel of life", if you will. Perfect and Flawless.

Also it's been said that the blade can cleave a mountain right in half...forget which earth-bound religion I pulled that idea from.

Oh well. That's my 2 coppers.

A garotte, for choking the last breath from a corpse?
I was going to suggest noose, with a garotte as the weapon her clerics use.

I think this works on a number of levels -- it makes the death worshippers much creepier, adds a symbolic religious aspect to when criminals (and others) are hanged and makes the entire act of killing more intimate for her followers, which is appropriate for the religion.

An unarmed strike, to represent the hand of fate that guides one and all to their final rest.

Or a Bohemian Ear-Spoon, because hey! Bohemian Ear-Spoon!

Pretty much all weapons are death oriented cnsidering their purpose is to kill people. The gods favored weapn will most likely be whatever he uses. Coem up with a good special weapon for him and maybe a myth about why he uses that weapons and make that his favored weapon for his clerics.
