D&D 5E Uses for Wish (other than Simulacrum)

Is there a spell that can be duplicated that can bring a Clone to life (without killing the host...obviously).
Essentially making the clone it's own creature with its own mind... but looks like the host?

Find someone with your level or higher, and True Polymorph that person into a copy of you.

If that copy can do the same thing, and both copies can find further targets, then you go viral!

Read the spell description. Wish can do almost anything you can think of. It is the most powerful spell in the game. It's downside is that when you use it for something other than duplicating spells, there is a chance that it becomes uncastable for good. However, ultimately your dm sets the boundaries for wish, this prevents players from doing things like supplanting Ao the Overgod, or breaking Tharizdun out of prison on a whim.

I hear ya...
I was just looking for a spell that could bring hundreds of Clone to life using a multitude of Simulacrum's to cast it in the clones.
True Poly should do the trick.
That said... when the clone awakens, using true poly, will the clone be a base race (human in this case), or will it be a (human) that is equal to or less than your current level?

The polymorphed target's game statistics are replaced by the new form's, but it retains its alignment and personality. So, why would some high level/high CR rando agree to be polymorphed into you? And if he doesn't agree and fails the save, why would he agree to use the 9th level spell slot to make another you?

Also he can't be turned into you. He can be turned into a guy that looks like you but that is it. True Polymorph does not turn people into specific people just into another creature. You can't turn a rat into a wizard instead you would just get a dude.

Well the OP said he just wants the clone to be "it's own creature with its own mind... but looks like the host?" True polymorph would arguably do that just fine; the spell doesn't say either way if you can pick the appearance of the target form.

Also, it would be done with a series of Simulacrum casting clone on the orginal target, and then true poly on top of that.
It can be done over a year, and the original target would have thousands of clones he could then wake up to live life as they see fit.... they would all just look like the main villain.

Bottom line :
A villainous wizard/necro could cast his host of Simulacrum, they would have plenty of spells to accomplish this over the years.
No need to ask another wizard to do it for you

Manshoon did 7 clones. Wish can emulate effects greater than an 8th level spell. So create many clones, use Contingency wish to recreate yourself with all of them when you die. With Wish, you could even True Polymorph the clones into other forms.
