Unconscious state causes everything to stop?

Had this happen in a quick, random encounter the other day. I was knocked unconscious, and the DM ruled that when I became awake again I had lost all of the following:

Oath of Enmity
Quicksilver Blade Stance
Potion of Regeneration

I argued that since the specific text for each of these gave a length of time (until the end of the encounter, or until the target is dead, in OOE's case) that they would still be up, if I was able to wake up during that same encounter.

Whats the ruling/verdict on this? Thanks much! :)

AFAIK you are right and the DM is wrong by RAW.

Something does not end by a PC's condition unless either the condition or the said power/effect/state/etc. says so.

Neither the rule text of Unconscious condition nor descriptive text of those powers and items suggest that the durations end when you become unconscious.

i agree with Shin_Okada (above).

I might (in the heat of the moment of trying to keep the game going without looking things up at the table) have probably said the same as your DM. The way the monsters are written, all their stances/end of encounter stuff/etc goes away at 0hp because the monsters are then dead rather than unconcious (that's just a special PC/exception thing). So it's easy to forget when DMing that PCs have the special phanton-zone condition inbetween alive and dead. So I can understand where your DM's thought process was.

But, having said that, by raw, those things last until end of encounter or until you are dead. and unconcious is not at dead yet. and your PC was unconcious, therefore those things were still active.

(disclaimer: i'm saying all this from memory, not actually near my books at the moment).

The above comments are correct. When something ends due to unconciousness, it is explicitly stated. A good example would be the Swordmage's Warding feature, which states that it operates while you are concious and using a light or heavy blade.

Specifically addressing each item:

Oath of Enmity - does not end because you have not met any of the conditions for it to end.

Quicksilver Blade - does not end because stances last until end of encounter, for 5 minutes, or until you use another stance (with some exceptions like a few fighter stances that end when you spend a healing surge, but these would be specified, and some items that allow you to be in multiple stances).

Potion of Regeneration - while the regeneration doesn't end, you can't regenerate when you are below 0 hit points, so the regeneration is suppressed until you regain hit points in some other way.

I'm surprised stances don't end upon unconsciousness.
My inner simulationist is making muffled noises, as he struggles under the piles of fun :p
