Treat Heavy Armor as Light?

Is there a way to reduce armor two categories?

I know Mithral reduces the armor by one, but I'm looking for a second 'step'.

I'm currently playing a Fighter/Ranger that wants to benefit from the Rangers TWF but also would like to wear Full Plate.

Any options?

There is an armor property in one of the FR books...something like "Lightweight", that reduces armor by one category, and AFAIK stacks with mithril.

Grogg of the North: that's like bracers of armor++, right? so no further enhancements beyond the +8 AC.

Thurbane: I think you are referring to "Halfweight" armor.

As far as I can tell, it reduces the weight of the armor, and all armor with this enhancement is treated as light (so no mithral necessary).

Sadly, I don't think my DM will go for it.
It requires to be build by a psionic creature (which don't exist in the campaign) and is from a world-specific sourcebook (which is a problem in itself with this DM)

But thanks for the suggestions!

Checking...

Checking... it appears to be it's own thing. "This skin grants you a +8 armor bonus. The skin has a maximum dexterity bonus of +2, a -6 armor check penalty, and a 25% arcane spell failure chance. It is treated as light armor for the purposes of affecting class features and movement"

Given the price tag of 6,000 gp, it is open to interpretation how closely it resembles normal armor for purposes of further enchantment. An argument could be made that it's intended to be the limit of what you can do with that particular thing. An argument could also be made that it can be safely affected by things like Magic Vestments, but not permanently improved by enchantments. An argument could also be made that it's effectively armor in all ways, and can be enchanted just like anything else. However, any such argument is expected to be based around interpretations of intent of the author, which isn't clearly specified. If it said "This can be enchanted just like masterwork armor", it'd be perfect for what you want. If it said "This cannot be enchanted further", then we'd know it's not. It doesn't say, however, one way or the other.

Jack Simth: Good arguments. I'll see if I can convince my DM to:
a) allow this magic item
b) make it available
c) allow it to be enchanted like normal armor.

Why exactly do you need it to be heavy armour?

Personally my personal favourite armour is Darkleaf Breastplate of Nimbleness, but I rarely roll a dex mod less than 4.

Try Mithral Full Plate of Speed, in the DMG, on pg 220 i think. It's still considered medium, but it allows a +3 Dex and the the armor check penalty is only -3. Plus, you get the Haste effect for like 10 rounds.

There's also Tessellated Armor, from, A&EG. It's +2 Full Plate that counts as medium. If you can convince the DM to let you have a mithril version, it should be light.
