Transfer mind into another body?

A PC had his mind placed in 2 bodies at the same time (his body & a living construct) and was able to see out of 2 sets of eyes and control 2 bodies at once. If the construct died, then his mind would only be in his natural body and everything would be ok (except for a temporary negative level). Instead, his natural body was killed and so his mind exists only in the living construct body.

If he was to have someone use the Psionic power True Mind Switch:
Mind Switch, True :: d20srd.org

would it make sense to disregard the level loss since the subjects body is already dead, and instead, do a temporary negative level as the side effect? Or would the level loss still be the right thing to do?

Also, what would someone charge to do this? I may require a favor as payment rather than gold, but I'm just wondering what the cost of this would be.

Or is there a better way of doing this than using True Mind Switch?

Perhaps the Ritual of Transformation in Savage Species?

I was looking at something similar, to bring a creature made of dreamstuff out of the Region of Dreams and into a living body.

The minimum I would allow this power to be manifested for is 51,620 gp.

This breaks down as follows:
9th level power, 18th level manifester

From the equipment section of the PHB, spellcasting and services:
9th level spell=90gp times 18 = 1,620.
The power also requires an expenditure of 10,000 xp (worth 5 gp/xp) = 50,000 gp

According to the list, such a spell/power is not generally available, because of the cost. I assume you have already decided that it is available so I would take the figure above as the absolute minimum that it could be done. Most people would charge more, maybe much more.

From what I understand, he is now in his own body. The other magical effect ended with the death of his original body. His negative level must be saved against or removed with a high level restoration spell (though the power says level loss not negative level). This new power will do nothing that I can see, except allow him to choose and enter another body. A dispel psionics/dispel magic will not return him to his original body because he has already suffered the level loss for the magic ending. Perhaps an atonement spell to realign him with this new body? Maybe wish, miracle, or reality revision is more appropriate. I don't see any other way for him to gain use of supernatural and spell-like abilities from the new him. Of course, he still has his own Su, Sp, and Ps abilities as well as spells, feats, skills...what was the problem again? Why does he need any magical help at all?

Ciao,
Dave
