D&D 5E This is easily the best character sheet that D&D has ever had, IMO.

Anyone agree? I mean it's just awesome. I think it's the elegance while still evoking an old school feel with simplicity. It's not just a huge list of boxes everywhere. It has (excuse the pun) a lot of character to it. 10/10 in my opinion.

It's a good one, not too cluttered or avant garde (like the circular abomination of one of the playtests).

The new Inspiration box is right at the top where you'd naturally see it when glancing at your character sheet looking for a bit of extra oomph on that critical roll. Nice.

Likewise, the RP traits are given good real-estate.

The unregimented ability score boxes allow you to prioritize modifier in the big box if you swing that way (I do!).

I don't like the feeble, faint line that indicates Max HP. I would have preferred a sub-box of some kind. Something that gave more esteem to this most important of all stats. Also the THP box seems a little big. I'm not sure it would get that much of a workout.

Also, the traditional space for character portrait makes an appearance on page 2 to mock the artistically challenged with its glaring white expanse. It will likely be filled with adventure notes for most ("Grimdal = dwarf d-bag"). It's also joined by an equally troublesome box for, I gather, a faction symbol.

An epic amount of space is devoted to Character Backstory. Probably too much for PCs with under 10hp. "My wizard can't be dead, I just finished writing out his backstory with my best calligraphy pen!"

The spellcaster page is okay, but there's not a lot of room to detail spell effects. I'd probably just cut and paste out of the pdf or create my own.

All in all, very playable. Not too confusing for newbies. Intuitive design. Limited stylistic flourishes, like useless borders that just take up space. 8/10.

I agree. The sheet is great. And they've even provided a handful of variants and form fillable versions of each.

I can see myself creating additional optional sheets, but for the time being I'm more than pleased with the official sheet.

I think the 'Character Sheet - Alternative' (contained in the same zip file at http://www.wizards.com/dnd/Tool.aspx?x=dnd/4new/tool/charactersheet) is even better (for me).

The Alternative sheet lumps the skills by ability score. I like it better because 1) most skill checks may well be nonproficient ability checks, and 2) it's easier to find the relevant skill for those of us who can no longer remember what the skills have been named this time around.

Haven't looked deeply into it but... 3 pages? Not usually a fan of that length. I find the PF 3 page sheet to be too much redundant space. I'll have to take a look at the full system, maybe print out a sheet and write up a character in order to decide but at the moment I'm lukewarm at best.

It only has one required page, plus an optional character background page, and a spell caster sheet.
