There's A VOLTRON RPG Coming!

Catalyst Game Labs--best known for Shadowrun and BattleTech--is launching a Kickstarter for a roleplaying game based on the giant robot cartoon series, Voltron!

Not much is known about it yet--there's a 'Launching Soon' page on Kickstarter which says "Unleash the power of unity, pilot giant mechs, and defend the universe in Voltron: The Roleplaying Game". However, Catalyst did say back in December 2023, that the game would use their new Dice Core system.

Voltron was an animated show which launched in 1984 and featured a giant space robot called Voltron, piloted by a team of adventurers. The Kickstarter launches next week.

Oh heck yeah, that's 100% burned into my brain. One of the three startup sounds I wanted to put in my car, if it would've let me customize a startup sound (as it is, it has no startup sounds at all, alas... ).

But a Voltron RPG, as someone who has a die cast Voltron on a shelf in my home office/library colour me intrigued! Even if Catalyst are not the folk I would have ever thought to be bringing this given the types of rules/games they have under their belt right now. Will definitively be checking out the KS page when it goes live.

Hmmm, I wouldn't be surprised if (assuming they have the license for it) they have stuff not only on the vehicle Voltron but also rules for creating your own Voltron team and combiner-robot schtick.

As kids in elementary school we made up our own Voltron RPG. I wish I still had a copy, but that was back when things were in notebooks not digital.

Also a future Frostpunk rpg.

* It can sounds very cool but we are talking about cartoons where the heroic mechas faces the monster of the week.

Why not to shoot an orbital laser to defeat the mechas? I mean I can believe the most advanced civilitations fought in a 1 vs 1 mecha fight.

Teknoman(US)/Tekkaman Blade(JP) was pretty awesome. I like both the American Theme and the original Japanese theme for the first half of the series cuz they were both bangers in their own rights.
