Afternoon, all.
The Radiance Adventure Engine turns any roleplaying game into a single-player game and is live on Kickstarter now: https://bit.ly/3xoNJL5
Radiance uses a series of cards to dynamically generate a story-rich adventure for you to play and then applies system-agnostic rules that you match to your RPG of choice. To date, Radiance has been tested with over 20 RPG systems.

Radiance uses a series of cards to dynamically generate a story-rich adventure for you to play and then applies system-agnostic rules that you match to your RPG of choice. To date, Radiance has been tested with over 20 RPG systems.
Here’s how it works:
- Every Radiance Adventure starts with a Core Adventure Problem: the narrative arc for the entire adventure.
- Then, we break the adventure into 8 stages, based on a 4-act structure found in movies, television, and novels.
- Each stage has its own story – a bit of drama that provides our hero with a motivation for adventure.
- During each stage and story, our hero chooses a goal for themselves.
- Next, we resolve path cards. Paths are opportunities for our hero to advance towards that narrative goal.
- Actions resolve paths. This is where Radiance’s mechanics meet those of your RPG: roll dice, flip cards, narrate, and roleplay.
- Instead of hard success and failure, Radiance allows the hero to switch paths and try a different method of achieving their goal.
- Complications and b-stories may be added to your stories and paths to make things more challenging. Reward cubes are earned for tackling difficult challenges.
- When the story and adventure stage are resolved, we move on to the next stage and the adventure continues.
