The Notebook

I'm not one for chick-flicks, but my wife wanted to see The Notebook. She had read the book, and had heard that the movie was good.

I stopped by Blockbuster to rent it, and the clerk mentioned that it was good. I said I was having to watch a chick-flick for my wife. He said, "Yeah, it's a romance, but it's really good."

He was right. It is a really good movie.

For those who have derided me for giving up on a movie before finishing it, I offer this up as evidence. The first hour is not my style -- "silly romance" :-) -- but it wasn't boring or repulsively stupid (as have been my complaints about other movies recently). It managed to keep my attention (or maybe it was my wife snuggled up to me on the sofa :-) through the beginning, and I must say, I really liked the overall premise and ending.

Quite a good movie. Rent it and watch it with your significant other -- will give good feelings.

I found it to be sappy, unpleasantly maudlin, and predictable, and I like all kinds of movies, including most maudlin chick flicks. I wanted to like it, and quite like the actors, but didn't care for the film at all. Definitely different strokes and all that.

"They notebook you at the drive-thru!! "

Okay now that the new curse word is out of the way, yes it was a good movie. I too, was "tricked" by the opposite sex into viewing it as well. It's actually entertaining from beginning to end. As bummed as I was about the ending, it made perfect sense.

(So is notebook gonna be a new curseword or do we give it the "Smurf" treament and replace random words with it to see how it plays out?)

Well, I got two words for you: Man up!

(Yes, it's worse when your GF or wife use those words on you.)

:p

One hopes she's only had to say that to you once (maybe twice).

Question, does your GF know about your wife then?
