The Darkness character or template???

hey everyone i was just reading a comic the darkness vs batman.
now it made me wonder is there any way to play jackie estacado (the darkness).
should it be a template or could a base class be created??

bases on an hired assassin he usualy uses 2 hand guns not realistic in the forgotten realms i usualy play.
mostly though he fights with his hands with claws.
he summons his darklings little demon, imp, goblin like creatures
has controll oves shadow:
-shadow step
-dark tentacles (evards black tentacles)
-Creeping Dark tendrills [to kill at range]
-Black Hole (entrpic shard)
-prescience [see near future]
-shadowy body armour

takes double dmg from light and holy aso gets a -2 to saves and ac vs these

i was thinking a combo between a monk a rogue and some shadow caster class.
and maybe a converted shade template.

does anyone have a build i can use or has more suggestions

You can build it in 3.5, but it won't be pretty: as written, you'll have to make up a few unique vulnerabilities and effects to stay faithful to the character.

It might be worth doing if you don't care about DnD not being a perfect fit.

Let's see...

Swordsage 4 (Wis to AC = "shadowy armor", plus maneuvers & stances) / Soulknife 3 (mindblade looks like "claws") / Soulbow 4-10 (mind arrows look like a pistol being fired if you wish) / Wilder 2 (entangling ectoplasm, and also Charisma to Touch AC for more "shadowy armor"), then either more Swordsage levels or more Wilder levels.

Should even be playable.

Sounds like Monk (Wis to AC, Shuriken instead of guns) + Blackguard + Shadowdancer.

The Dark Creature template from Tome of Magic might have some of the features you're interested in. The level adjustment is only +1, so it's very accessible.

Monk + Warlock

A warlock's invocations will cover lots of the effects you want: summoning (Hungry Darkness, The Dead Walk, Summon Swarm, etc), blasting his "pistols" (eldritch blast), black tentacles (chilling tentacles), shadow step (Flee the Scene), etc.

Improved Unarmed Strike + Versatile Unarmed Strike

he summons his darklings little demon, imp, goblin like creatures

has controll oves shadow:
-shadow step
Dimension Door

-dark tentacles (evards black tentacles)
As you said, Evard's Black Tentacles

-Creeping Dark tendrills [to kill at range]
Magic Missile or Spectral Hand + Vampiric Touch

-Black Hole (entrpic shard)
Not sure what this does.

-prescience [see near future]
Augury, or merely DM's hook

-shadowy body armour
Mage Armor

takes double dmg from light and holy aso gets a -2 to saves and ac vs these

Flaw: Holy Light Vulnerability: -2 on saves and AC vs. spells and abilities with the [Light] or [Good] descriptor and vs. the abilities and attacks of creatures with the Good subtype.


All this points to Monk 1 + Sorcerer x, with the Ascetic Mage feat from Complete Arcane. It will also allow you to add your Charisma to AC instead of Wisdom, which seems to suit Jackie Estacado as I know him.

For spells focus on the ones I listed above.

no harm meant

its just i have seen a few replies on class based builds i was hoping someone knows or has a template version.

this is so i can experiment with stuff to see what suits best.

i was also hoping for feat help and so on.
just base classes is not the real problem but combining them.
also as stated above the right feats ar important.

but i realy appreciate all of your help i realy do
as soon as i have something suitable ill post it
